Random Things About Me

This meme came from facebook, and the rules are that you’re supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. Then choose at least 25 people to be tagged. If you tag fellow bloggers, please leave a link to their site, as well as linking to the site of the person who tagged you. I’ll be tagging some friends from facebook, and some fellow bloggers I’ve recently had the pleasure of “meeting.” If I tag you, it’s because I’d love to know more about you, but above all this is just for fun so please don’t feel obligated to respond!

Twenty Random Things About Me

1.) One of my favorite jobs was working at a gas station where a friend and I would sing to the customers over the intercom while they were putting gas in their cars.

2.) Here is a song from those bygone days:

(Sung to the tune of “Rock-a-bye Baby”)

Fill up your gas tank,
Right to the top
When the handle pops,
That’s when you stop.
After you’re finished,
Come in and pay.
Check, cash, or credit
Have a good day!

Yes, we really DID sing that, and many more. I’ll have to blog about it some time! :)

3.) I once had a debilitating fear of spiders. Then we moved into a house infested with brown recluses. It took months before we were able to get rid of them, and in the meantime God helped me to overcome my fear.

4.) I’m still terrified of cave crickets

5.) I am probably the only ultra-conservative Christian in America who is excited about this years presidency. I believe the prophesy about him, given by Kim Clement: “Even though you may think this or that, there is an element of righteousness inside of him to reach out for Jesus.” I’m excited to see what God is going to do during the next four years.

6.) My memory leaves much to be desired

7.) My husband (who does not like animals) and I once ran a dog rescue out of our home. Five unhousebroken dogs in the house at one time will test the bonds of any marriage.

8.) I am a bookworm

9.) My favorite fictional books are: Christy by Catherine Marshall, Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentiss, and The Mark of the Lion Trillogy by Francine Rivers.

10.) My favorite biographies and authobiographies are: George Muller of Bristol, His Life of Prayer and Faith (A.T. Pierson), The Hiding Place and Tramp For the Lord (Corrie Ten Boom.)

11.) My favorite inspirational books are: With Christ in the School of Prayer (Andrew Murray), When Heaven Invades Earth (Bill Johnson), The Way Home (Mary Pride), Surprised by the Power of the Spirit (Jack Deere), and John G. Lake, a compilation of his works (Roberts Liardon).

12.) My heroes of the faith are George Muller, Hudson Taylor, Corrie Ten Boom, John G. Lake, Bill Johnson, and Smith Wigglesworth.

13.) One of my favorite bible characters is Phinehas (Numbers 25:1-13).

14.) I wanted to name one of our boys Phinehas, but in Hebrew it is pronounced “Peen-has” and even I won’t do that to my kids.

15.) I am looking forward to one day meeting the baby we lost.

16.) I love everything to do with animals and farming and am intimidated by the prospect of gardening

17.) I once took singing lessons with Rachel York, who starred on Broadway with Julie Andrews. In spite of this, I still can’t hit a decent high note.

18.) I am NOT going to buy a digital converter for my TV and I look forward to loosing my signal and no longer being able to watch it.

19.) I failed my first drivers test when I hit another car while parallel parking.

20.) I hope to own lots of land some day and give each of my children a portion of it to build their own houses on.
